Mission Statement
The Sonoran Security Forum is dedicated to anticipating the future challenges to U.S. national security. Based in Arizona, a strategic nexus for the nation's defense industrial base, military readiness, and technological innovation, we are uniquely positioned to provide independent, data-driven analysis on critical security issues
Our research agenda is focused on two core areas:
- "Anticipating Peer Conflict: We identify and analyze under-the-radar vulnerabilities and opportunities within the U.S. national security enterprise that could prove decisive in a future peer-level military conflict. In an era of renewed great power competition, our work examines issues such as industrial base resilience, supply chain security, and the development of next-generation capabilities. These capabilities span all domains, from Low Earth Orbit in space to the seabed, as well as cybersecurity, where Arizona’s universities are already conducting pivotal research. We also consider land warfare, the air littoral, Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCAs), and hypersonics."
- Border and Regional Security: The Forum provides specialized, granular analysis of U.S. military and security cooperation activities in Mexico and along the U.S. border. Leveraging our strategic location, we examine the effectiveness of operations targeting transnational criminal organizations, the intersection of federal and state security efforts, and the implications for homeland security and regional stability.
The Sonoran Security Forum convenes senior leaders, industry experts, and military officials to foster dialogue and develop pragmatic, actionable policy recommendations. By bridging the gap between local expertise and the national debate, we aim to shape a more resilient, secure and prosperous future for the United States.
